BRANSON WEST — A nonprofit thrift store has a new location and will host its grand opening May 28. Christian Associates has been able to provide nearly 40 tons of food and $100,000 in direct financial aid for those in need through endeavors such as its thrift store, which now has a new location in Branson West.

The thrift store has been in operation for 35 years, helping to provide funds for such things as the nonprofit’s women’s shelter, and it has moved to a new location.

Regional manager for the Branson West and Nixa thrift store locations Anna Hogue explained what sparked the move to go from a two-story building to a single level just a handful of miles away.

“We have some elderly customers and it was cumbersome — they couldn’t do the stairs,” Hogue said.

Although the stairs were a main concern, that wasn’t the only reason for the move, Hogue said.

“Our goal is to have an asset for Christian Associates,” she said. “We want to be able to do more because the need is so great.

“We’re all about the community. We have a heart for people in need.”

In the midst of furniture, tools, clothing, newly painted walls and more, Hogue said it’s been a “labor of love.”

“It was a very quick move, with as much inventory as we had,” Hogue said. “We could not have done it without the community, our volunteers, and wonderful employees.”

Although the store’s setup may reflect a retail shop, Hogue said they don’t have the luxury of just replacing an item once it’s sold. The thrift store, like others, relies on donations.

“We are always looking for donations,” she said.

The only item they don’t particularly want are box television sets.

“We have to pay to dispose of them, so it ends up hurting the mission rather than helping,” Hogue said. “Other than that, we pretty much take anything.”

Donations may be brought to the northeast side of the building between 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The thrift store is located at 18242 Business Hwy. 13. It is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Call 417-272-1121 for more information.

Hogue also encourages the community to attend the Christian Associates Thrift Store grand opening from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 28. The nonprofit will be grilling hot dogs and welcomes the public to stop by.
