Branson police Lt. Bryan Miller was honored as the March 2015 Employee of the Month at the Branson Board Aldermen meeting Tuesday evening.

Alderman Rick Davis presented Miller, a 20-year city employee, with the award for his work on the “Shop with a Hero” program.

“This annual Christmas affair creates memories for so many, it has brought joys and toys to hundreds of deserving area children,” Davis said. “'Shop with a Hero' event provides unique opportunities for interactions between area families, uniformed first responders and facilitators as they eat a meal, share stories and experience the holiday together.”

Davis said Miller works with area donors, Love INC, and both Wal-Mart stores in town.

“This event, which provides a remarkable synergy for establishing relationships between law enforcement, emergency medical services, fire districts and uniformed first responders with members of area businesses and the residential community is a win-win,” Davis said. “Lt. Bryan Miller works very hard in this event. He demonstrates the city of Branson values in the area of teamwork, cooperation, volunteerism and stewardship. He has been a great example to his coworkers, our community and provided inspiration and a great model for our area youth.”

Miller said his intention with the program isn’t to gain personal recognition,.

“My goal is to simply build relationships with area youth and students who may not have the opportunity to have a nice, good Christmas, and build that relationship with those children,” Miller said.
