    The Branson Board of Aldermen presented Police Officer Jason Smith as employee of the month Tuesday.

    Smith was recognized for his investigation for a perpetrator responsible for over $55,000 in vending machine damages and thefts throughout the city.

    “The burglary break-ins had been going on since the first week of January,” Alderman Mike Booth said.

    “As a result of Officer Smith’s dedication and persistence drive, the offender was apprehended which also cultivated in fifteen cases for the police department and two cases for outside agencies.”

    Smith closed over a dozen cases that led to the arrest and charges filed for 22 felonies and six misdemeanors for the theft and property damage.

    “Officer Smith displays city values, teamwork, service and stewardship,” Booth said.

     “There was a lot of teamwork that went into this,” Smith said.     “Thank you all very much. I really appreciate it.”
