It’s finally official. Silver Dollar City has set the record in The Guinness Book of World Records for the most spinning tops spun simultaneously.

Back in August of 2008, Silver Dollar City attempted to establish this record with a total of 192 tops spinning in the first-ever event on Main Street. This record was just officially confirmed as a world record by Guinness.

Event planners are already getting ready for this year’s event.

“We’ve set the date for Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, to break the record again,” said event coordinator Roy Campbell. “The event will be bigger and better than last year with top events all day long throughout the park.”

To participate in the top event, visitors will need to sign in at Silver Dollar City the day of the event. For information on the top spinning event, call (417) 338-3886.

The 2009 season at Silver Dollar City opens with Family Spring Break Days March 19-22, 26-27 and 29, then opens for the regular season with World-Fest on April 4.
