In order to prepare for the role of Cheryl Strayed in 2014 biographical adventure drama ‘Wild’, Reese hiked the Pacific Crest Trail. Reese embarked on the 1,100 mile hike without any prior training. She said: "When I started this movie, I couldn't put up a tent. "I thought making fire was turning on your fireplace. One day, when I set up camp off the trail, I rubbed sticks, made fire and started screaming on the top of my lungs. "I was in the middle of the woods screaming, 'Yes! Yes! Yes!' at the top of my lungs."
