SPRINGFIELD — Branson’s softball team upset Springfield Kickapoo on its way to winning its first three games at the Cracker Jack Springfield Tournament over the weekend.

The Lady Pirates made the semifinal round, thanks to a 10-9 win over Kickapoo, a 7-5 victory over Fatima and a 5-4 triumph against Battle.

Branson (14-12) finished the tourney by falling to Liberty 8-4 and losing to Jefferson City Helias 9-5.

After losing to Kickapoo 12-2 a week earlier, the Lady Pirates received what proved to be a game-wining home run by Savannah Miller with the score tied at 9-all in the sixth inning.

Miller was 3-for-4 with three RBIs. She also drove in three runs versus Fatima.

Branson overcame seven errors against Battle, thanks to a game-winning RBI single by Amber Large with the teams tied at 4-all in the sixth. Lauren Garrison homered.

Garrison was 7-for-17 and Gracie Jaeger 6-for-16 with three walks in the tourney.

Cat Ford threw 29 innings, striking out 12.

Reeds Spring 2-3 at tourney

Reeds Spring’s softball team picked up an 11-1 win over Willard and a 12-2 victory against Walnut Grove t the Cracker Jack Springfield Tournament over the weekend.

The Lady Wolves (14-5) were edged 8-7 by Fatima, bowed to Camdenton 6-1 and were beaten by West Plains 8-6.

Izzy Erickson was 11-for-21 with one homer and 10 RBIs in the tourney. Mackenzie Duvall was 11-for-19.

Abby Rudd tripled twice to lead the rout of Willard.

Erickson struck out 26 over 20 innings.

Blue Eye sweeps Exeter

Blue Eye’s volleyball team whipped Exeter 25-9, 25-8 Friday.

The Lady Bulldogs received eight kills and three blocks from Trinity Young, 17 assists from Taylor Arnold and two aces apiece from Kohnnar Patton and Brooklyn Box.

Crouthamel, Bulldogs win

Blue Eye’s baseball team closed the Seymour Tournament with a 10-3 win against Northeast Vernon County on Friday.

Jacob Crouthamel and Riley Linscott combined for a three-hitter. Linscott threw five innings of scoreless relief.

Crouthamel had three hits, four runs scored and six stolen bases.

 Lady ‘Cats tourney champs

College of the Ozarks’ volleyball team dropped only two sets on its way to a sweep of John Brown, Johnson & Wales, Wayland Baptist and Lawrence Tech at the Chick-fil-A Classic over the weekend.

The Lady ‘Cats went four sets to beat John Brown while receiving 14 kills from Danielle Curnes, 12 kills apiece from Rielly Dobbs and Alex Spears and 11 kills from Kayli Grant. Also, Dobbs dished out 45 assists, a new personal high for a four-set match.

Dobbs is averaging 10.1 assists a set.

Curnes collected 15 kills and 19 digs and Spears had 14 kills and 20 digs in a four-set win over Lawrence Tech.

C of O (18-3) is 9-1 at home.
