FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas — Hollister’s Cameron Shook finished 11th at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival on Saturday.

Shook ran the 5,000-meter course in 17:01. He was part of a field of 889 runners.

Reeds Spring falls to Chiefs

Reeds Spring’s softball team lost 8-2 to Springfield Kickapoo on Saturday.

Izzy Erickson rapped out two of the Lady Wolves’ three hits.

Crouthamel stars for Bulldogs

Blue Eye’s baseball team picked up a 9-2 win over Galena in the opening round of the SWCL Tournament on Saturday.

Winning pitcher Jacob Crouthamel struck out 10.

Crouthamel helped his own cause by going 3-for-4 with an inside-the-park home run. He had five RBIs. Ryan Reagan was 2-for-3.

Blue Eye meets Crane in a semifinal Monday at 7 at College of the Ozarks.

Wescott, Branson third

Branson’s volleyball team finished third at the Mt. Vernon Tournament on Saturday.

The Lady Pirates 25-19, 25-13 in the third-place game, as Caroline Wescott posted a season-high 15 kills and Grace Dean had 14 assists. They also beat Mt. Vernon 25-19, 25-17 in pool play.

Branson (12-9) swept Pierce City 25-14, 25-14 and Hollister 25-10, 25-12 and fell to West Plains 25-20, 25-15.

Dean and Morgan LeBlanc teamed for seven aces against Hollister.

Wescott finished the tourney with 46 kills.

Lady‘Cats net 20th victory

College of the Ozarks’ volleyball team swept its matches at the Lyon on Friday.

The Lady ‘Cats beat Hannibal LaGrange 25-8, 25-14, 25-16 and downed host Lyon 22-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-15.

Danielle Curnes, Kayli Grant and Alex Spears each had 13 kills against Lyon. Spears added 17 digs and a pair of aces. Rielly Dobbs had 41 assists.

C of O (20-3) reached the 20-win mark for the second straight season and eighth time in its last 11 seasons.
